The Seventh Pearl

A novel

T.S. Austen

Welcome to the work trip from hell.

A team of eight coworkers sails from the tropical mainland city of Kralen, a free, thriving city at the pinnacle of civilization, to the small, uninhabited desert island of Haato. Dania par Rincàn—a woman in her early thirties who’s quickly climbing the ranks of the Storm Regulators, an experimental cohort of soldiers that escorts and protects magical priests who control the weather—leads the team.

Their mission?

To capture Zephiñar, “the Coyote,” radical priest who has been terrorizing Kralen City by poisoning its coral reefs and infecting its citizens by the thousands. The Coyote holds the island of Haato hostage, eager to prevent the Storm Regulators from accessing its active volcano.

A volcano that could erupt at any time.

The Seventh Pearl is our new, in-progress novel, a sapphic spin on a tried-and-true fantasy motif: a badass tracking a dangerous enemy over treacherous terrain. This story takes special inspiration from the rugged beauty and of Caribbean desert islands, especially Bonaire.
